Choosing white paint shouldn’t be this hard!

If you’ve ever stood in front of a wall of paint swatches, slowly questioning all your life choices—you’re not alone.

One of the most common things people ask us at Pink Jam Trading is, “What’s the best white paint?” And honestly, it’s a fair question. There are so many whites out there it’s borderline ridiculous. But don’t worry, I’ve got you. Read on....

1. The Best White Paints (That Won’t Ruin Your Life)

  • Dulux Natural White – Warm, inviting, won’t make your house feel like a hospital - excellent in heritage homes.
  • Dulux Vivid White – Crisp, clean, looks amazing but shows every fingerprint (kids = beware).
  • Dulux Lexicon Quarter – A cooler, modern white. Great for bright spaces but can look a little blue if your lighting’s off. I've been known to just paint everything lexicon quarter to save on decision making!

2. How to Pick the Right One

Forget what the swatch looks like in-store. Test it in your space! Paint a sample on your wall and watch it in different lighting. (Morning sun vs. evening lamp glow = completely different vibes.)

3. Should I Just Go for the Cheapest Paint?

Look, if you love doing five coats and still seeing patchy spots, go for it. Otherwise, spend a little more for good coverageand less stress.
TIP - Bunnings can mix Porters Paint colours into Dulux paint so you get the colour without the price tag!

4. Final Thoughts on White Paint (Because This Shouldn’t Be That Deep)

  • Test your colour before buying 10L of it - any in different lighting, you'll be shocked!
  • Avoid anything too stark unless you love the ‘rental property with no personality’ look.
  • If in doubt, Natural White is your safe bet.
